Acting

An award-winning actor with a gift for comedy, Janet recently returned to performing after taking a hiatus to teach theatre while raising her daughter. She’s having a blast being back on screen, onstage and in the recording booth.

Janet can be seen soon in the new Apple series Government Cheese and the feature comedy OMI, in which she plays an Israeli Krav Maga expert who returns from the dead to teach her New Age rabbi granddaughter some self defense. Other recent credits include the Indie Peeky, the pilot Gringo Latino and award-winning shorts Vote for Lola and America’s Sweetheart. Prior to her hiatus, she guest-starred on top shows such as Pretty Little Liars and shared the screen with Laurence Fishburne and Keke Palmer in the popular classic Akeelah and the Bee.

Onstage Janet has premiered the work of leading playwrights, and toured the country in The Ramona Roses, a solo show inspired by her students at Ramona Opportunity School in East LA. Julio Martinez of Variety had high praise: “Borrus flows seamlessly out of herself and into the richly colorful and detailed personas…exuberant and hilarious!”
