Acting

An award-winning actor with a gift for comedy, Janet recently returned to performing after taking a hiatus to teach high school theatre while raising her daughter. She’s now having a blast back on screen and onstage!

Janet can be seen soon in the new Apple series Government Cheese and feature comedy OMI, in which she plays an Israeli Krav Maga expert who comes back from the dead to school her rabbi granddaughter in self defense. She currently appears in the Indie Peeky, pilot Gringo Latino and award-winning shorts Vote for Lola and America’s Sweetheart. Other favorite screen roles include Caleb’s evil foster mom in Pretty Little Liars and the cheating helicopter mom in Akeelah and the Bee with Laurence Fishburne and Keke Palmer.

Onstage Janet has premiered the work of leading playwrights, and toured the country in The Ramona Roses, a solo show inspired by her students at Ramona Opportunity School in East LA. Julio Martinez of Variety had high praise: “Borrus flows seamlessly out of herself and into the richly colorful and detailed personas…exuberant and hilarious!”
